Hermance Helical Cutterhead
Hermance Machine Company manufactures helical cutterheads for planers, jointers, and moulders. Our cutterheads are designed to offer several important advantages over traditional spiral cutterheads. * Hermance helical cutterhead knives are turned at an angle and tilted. Many spiral heads have the knives strike the wood at a 90° angle. Only the Hermance heads cut with a true shearing action giving an incredibly smooth finish without needing special knives. * Hermance cutterheads are designed to support carbide knives on three sides to reduce blade chipping and cracking. * Hermance cutterheads are aerodynamically designed to run more quietly than straight blade or any other cutterheads. Preliminary tests have shown a 15-20dB reduction when run on an SCM Superset compared to a straight blade moulder head.
